Shooting at Fontevraud

A UNIQUE SETTING FOR ALL KINDS OF FILM

Cloisters, churches and chapels, landscapes, futuristic wood-fuelled heating … The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud boasts a wide range of possible film sets. In 1944, La Cage aux Rossignols was filmed here (which inspired the more recent blockbuster Les Choristes (The Choir). Today the Abbey is recognised by many as a perfect film set, from directors such as Jean-Pierre Mocky, to bands such as C2C (who filmed the video to their song ‘Fuya’ here, that was highly acclaimed at the ‘Victoires de la Musique’ awards). From period dramas to hip-hop videos, the artistic possibilities are infinite at Fontevraud!
