BUILDING & INHABITING FONTEVRAUD
When Robert d’Arbrissel founded Fontevraud Royal Abbey in 1101, he dreamt of building an ideal city. To mark the 900th anniversary of his death, the festival ‘The Ideal City’ pays homage to this ambition, exploring the themes ‘Building and Inhabiting’. From Saturday 4 June, every corner of the Royal Abbey comes alive, offering new views of its history and ideas for its future.
The inauguration of the archeological crypt and the new model rooms plunge us back into 1000 years of history, while exciting new works appear throughout the abbey’s unmissable spaces.
BUILDING & INHABITING reminds us what the Royal Abbey meant to Robert d’Arbrissel: a welcoming, creative, forward-looking city and, of course, a city for living together!
