JULIEN SALAUD EXHIBITION / FLEUVE CELESTE
The first exhibition originating from the Ackerman + Fontevraud La Scène residency, initiated in 2014, opens in April in the cellars of the Maison Ackerman where the work of artist Julien SALAUD, ‘Fleuve Céleste’ stretches out like a star-studded vault. Fragile, ephemeral, the work will be on display for three years.
FLEUVE CÉLESTE / A SITE-SPECIFIC WORK
Julien SALAUD, the first artist to be awarded the Ackerman + Fontevraud La Scène residency, has installed an original and ephemeral work in one of the troglodyte cellars of the Maison Ackerman. Conceived specifically for this unusual and monumental space, ‘Fleuve Céleste’ highlights an extraordinary piece of history.
JULIEN SALAUD / A MAGICAL BESTIARY
Fascinated by the connections, forces and symbolism that unite man with nature, Julien Salaud created a magical bestiary. Like traces of eccentric poetry, his work offers “a different viewpoint of what an animal can be: that of the Cartesian or the geneticist, of the predator or the prey, of the sorcerer or the mystic”. The sensation of the Salon de Montrouge in 2010, he exhibited the same year at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris then in Chambord, Singapore, Seoul and Madrid.
THE ACKERMAN + FONTEVRAUD LA SCÈNE RESIDENCY
The collaboration between the Maison Ackerman and Fontevraud La Scène developed from a common objective: to establish an artist’s residency where original works of art could be produced in an out of the ordinary environment. A long-term programme, each year the residency invites submissions of project proposals. A jury of respected individuals from the art world selects an artist whose work is then exhibited for a period of three years. The first work commissioned in this way, ‘Fleuve Céleste’ will be on show from 3 April 2015.
