DEBATES, CONFERENCES, SEMINARS / AN ABBEY THAT IS OPEN TO THE WORLD
Fontevraud Royal Abbey is a heritage site open to the world, and the future. What could be more fitting therefore than using it as a venue for debates and conferences? Renowned figures from the worlds of philosophy, history, sociology and science, debate modern society by considering the past, present and future. Religion and spirituality, ecology, borders, the economic crisis, education… so many themes address the subject of how we ‘live together’, a subject that was already fundamental when Robert d’Arbrissel founded the Abbey in 1101!
BEYOND HISTORY AND SOCIAL DEBATE / A QUESTION OF ART
In addition to current affairs and subjects linked to the past, Fontevraud Royal Abbey, as a dynamic cultural venue, organises conferences around themes linked to the arts. Animation, literature, design, graphic arts … these are all disciplines supported here at Fontevraud that have been the subject of seminars and lectures. From a conference on Richard the Lionheart, to a lecture by an internationally renowned designer, the Abbey offers a range of subjects for debate that could not be broader.
