The welcome immediately sets the tone for Fontevraud L’Ermitage. The predominant use of wood creates a warm atmosphere that is reflected in the different areas of the Saint-Lazare priory.
Our rooms are shaped by the architectural space in which they are housed, and in each of them, particular attention has been paid to acoustics and light to make them cosy, intimate refuges conducive to tranquillity.
The sobriety of the rooms’ clean lines invites you to experience the essential. The palette of colours and materials is deliberately restrained, reinforcing a raw authenticity. Luxury is not showy or superficial. It is felt through the refinement of the details and the quality of the materials.
From the inclination of the headboard, designed for perfect reading comfort, to the soundproofing provided by 22-centimetre partitions, everything is designed to ensure that comfort subtly distills the codes of the monastic cell and nurtures the spirit of the place.

Explore the magic of the site outside visiting hours
For our guests, the Royal Abbey is open until 00:30. It is not necessary to buy an entrance ticket for the Abbey, which is offered with your stay at the Hôtel de Fontevraud L’Ermitage. Access to the museum is not included and must be purchased directly from the ticket office.

With the exclusive tour, guests have a guide to tell them personally about the history of Fontevraud and take them to meet Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart and the astonishing Romanesque kitchens. 1 hour with a guide: from €150 (Price valid for 1 to 8 people – Minimum booking 72 hours before the visit)
Take a group tour
Opt for a group tour and discover the fascinating history of this exceptional monument in the company of our passionate experts. Just turn up 15 minutes before the start of the tour at the ticket office (€4.50 per person).

During your stay, work areas (apothecary lounge, small refectory) and board games can be made available to you.

A well-lit fitness area overlooking the garden, equipped with top-of-the-range equipment (rowing machine, indoor bike, weights and floor mats) allows you to take care of your body under the shelter of a veranda or on the orchard lawn. Free access for hotel guests, 24 hours a day.
